Rev. Dr Norman Ford is a Senior Fellow of Catholic Theological College, and a member of both the Department of Philosophy, and the Department of Moral Theology and Canon Law. He lectures in bioethics, the philosophy of the human person, and ethical theory and practical issues. He is a priest of the Salesians of Don Bosco (sdb), nad is currently the Rector of the sdb Community at Chadstone..

Norman Ford holds the degrees of Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical Salesian University (Turin), and Doctor of Philosophy from the Pontifical Salesian University (Rome). He is Director of the Caroline Chisholm Centre for Health Ethics, and a former Master of Catholic Theological College (1986-1991).

His current academic interests are ethical issues at the beginning and end of human life, and ethical issues raised by the bird flu pandemic. He has published extensively in bioethics. Among his recent publications are the following: Stem Cells, Science, Medicine, Law and Ethics (co-authored with Michael Herbert) (2003); The Prenatal Person: Ethics from Conception to Birth (2002); “Ethical Aspects of Prenatal Screening and Diagnosis" in Genetics and Ethics (2004); "Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research: The Position of the Catholic Church” in Ethical, Legal, and Social Issues in Organ Transplantation (2004); “Embryo Reduction” in Procréation et droits de l’enfant (2004); "Cloning and Embryo Research in Australia" in Ethics & Medics (2003); "Using Pluripotent Germ Cells in Regenerative Medicine: An Ethical Alternative" in National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly (2003).
