Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School (Gain or Maintain) Accreditation to Teach RE or Lead in a Catholic School (Maintain)

CTC provides teachers seeking accreditation to teach in a Catholic school the opportunity to attend a broad range of lectures as auditors (without assessment). When approved by Catholic Education Melbourne, these lectures contribute to the areas specified in the 2020 CECV Accreditation policy which requires specified hours in professional development, balanced across the following areas: 

For gaining/maintaining Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School:
  • category '1’ : faith development
  • category ‘2’ : aims and objectives of the Catholic school
  • category ‘3’ : Catholic identity, culture and tradition (including prayer, liturgy, scripture and Catholic social teaching)
For maintaining Accreditation to Teach RE or Lead in a Catholic School:
  • Catholic identity and culture
  • Prayer and liturgy
  • Scripture
  • Catholic social teaching
  • Theology
  • Religious Education
An extensive list of modules is advertised to schools before commencement of each semester and a certificate of attendance is provided by the College upon completion.

2020 Modules

The Catholic Dialogue School Today

CTC is offering a 2-day seminar (four sessions) open to all teachers – especially those not teaching religious education.

These sessions will provide a strong introduction about the language and purpose of the Enhancing Catholic School Identity Project (ECSI).

  • Friday 28 August 2020
It is expected that participants completing both days will gain 12 hours in Category 2 towards gaining/maintaining accreditation to teach RE/Lead in a Catholic School (CECV Policy 2020).

A certificate of attendance is provided by the College upon completion.

2020 Fees

  • Per three-hour session: $55
  • Two-day seminar fee: $100 per day
