This unit follows on from DS350 Christian Spirituality A: Classical to the Middle Ages and will introduce the student to some significant examples of Christian literature from the later Middle Ages to the present. The focus will be upon the study of these texts in their theological and cultural context. Students will also be required to experience some contemporary and living expressions or aspects of these texts; e.g., a visit to a monastic foundation.

Requirements
- two hours of lectures per week and six seminars during the semester
- the equivalent of at least 6 hours of ‘practical work’ (e.g. a visit to a monastic foundation, a relevant cultural experience)
Students are expected to prepare a one-page handout at each seminar and speak to that. This may form part of the final essay.
