Dr Rod Doyle is a a senior fellow of Catholic Theological College and a member of the Department of Biblical Studies. He lectures in the New Testament. He is a religious of the Congregation of Christian Brothers (cfc).

Rod Doyle holds the degrees of Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical University of St Thomas (Rome), Licentiate in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Commission (Rome), and Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Melbourne. His doctoral thesis was entitled, Matthew’s Wisdom: A Redaction-Critical Study of Matthew 11.1-14.13a. He served as Academic Dean of Catholic Theological College from 1984 to 2005. He has taught in primary and secondary schools, and directed formation for the Christian Brothers. He was also a team member at the National Pastoral Institute of Religious Education, Elsternwick (1976-1980).

His main academic interests are archaeology, particularly as related to biblical studies; leading study tours of the Middle East; and research in the study of the Gospels. He published “Bread and Wine: A Scriptural Exploration” in The Summit (2005), and presented a paper at the annual meeting of the Australian Catholic Biblical Association, July 2005, entitled “The Map of Madaba: A New Look at an Old Map.”

He has conducted numerous study tours of the Biblical Lands, most recently in 2008 with Fr Anthony Dean cm.
