Department of Biblical Studies
Rev. Dr Brian Boyle is the Academic Dean of Catholic Theological College and is a member of the Department of Biblical Studies. He lectures in Biblical Studies (Old Testament). He is Chaplain to the German-Speaking Catholic Community, Camberwell.
The undergraduate units he teaches include:
- BS101 Introduction to the Old Testament
- BS205/305 The Pentateuch
- BS216/316 The Prophetic Literature
- BS312 The Prophecy of Jeremiah
The postgraduate units he teaches include:
- BS360 Sacred Scripture: A Foundation for Teaching Religious Education
- BS412 The Prophecy of Jeremiah
Brian Boyle holds a Bachelor of Arts from the Australian National University (Canberra), a Bachelor of Theology from the Melbourne College of Divinity, a Diploma of Tertiary Education from the University of New England, and a Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University (Rome). He gained a Doctorate of Sacred Theology at the Gregorian with research on synchronic and diachronic readings of narrative in the Book of Jeremiah.
Before coming to CTC he was Dean of the College of Theology in the University of Notre Dame Australia (Fremantle) and a Lecturer in Scripture (Old Testament). He is a member of the Australian Catholic Biblical Association and the Fellowship for Biblical Studies.
He recently published "Holiness has a Shape: The Place of the Altar in Ezekiel's Visionary Plan of Sacred Space (Ezekiel 43: 1-12, 13-17, 18-27)" in Australian Biblical Review (2009).
His main academic interests are biblical inspiration and prophetic literature.
