The Historical Literature |
BS218/318 |
| Mark O'Brien op |
Semester 2, 2012 Thursday 10.00am — 1.00pm |
This unit will be based on an examination of the Deuteronomistic History (Deuteronomy – 2 Kings) as representative of the historical literature found in the Old Testament. Other examples of historiography in the Old Testament (1 & 2 Chronicles) will be considered, especially where these texts parallel the Deuteronomistic History. The unit will consider the Israelite and Ancient Near Eastern notions of history and examine contemporary issues, problems and methods associated with the interpretation of such literature.
